We recently assisted a client who needed a durable replacement for a broken clip on his shoe. To meet the need for strength and precision, we designed and 3D printed a custom clip using tough black resin on an SLA 3D printer. The result was a highly durable and precise part that seamlessly replaced the original clip, restoring the functionality of the shoe.

The Need

The client had a pair of shoes with a specialized clip that had broken, leaving the shoe unusable. Since finding a replacement part on the market was impossible, the client needed a custom solution that would match the original clip in both fit and durability. Our task was to create a sturdy, reliable replacement using 3D printing technology, ensuring the shoe could be worn comfortably again.

What We Did

Custom Design: We carefully examined the broken clip and designed a precise 3D model that replicated the original part’s shape, size, and functionality.
Material Selection: To ensure the replacement clip would be strong and durable, we chose tough black resin, ideal for creating high-strength parts with fine detail.
SLA 3D Printing: The clip was printed using an SLA 3D printer, which provided the accuracy and smooth finish needed for a part that must endure regular use.
Final Fit & Testing: After printing, we tested the clip on the shoe to confirm it fit perfectly and functioned just like the original, ensuring the client could use the shoe with confidence.

This project highlights how 3D printing can provide custom, durable solutions for everyday problems. By using tough black resin and SLA printing, we were able to create a replacement clip that restored the shoe’s functionality, proving the value of personalized, high-quality 3D printed parts.
